So I haven't "blogged" in ages, and I was hoping to make my return post a little more deep than this. But I really need to share this funny story... and my pain.
I've been calling myself a CHEF lately. I have been doing the Bountiful Baskets co-op and have been getting awesome fruits and vegetables that I would never buy on my own. So, I have been cooking up a storm and looking up recipes like crazy! This past week or so I have made butternut squash soup, potato leek soup (what is a leek you ask? a green onion on STEROIDS!), salsa, and eggplant parmesan with homeade marinara. Can you believe that I have a full-time job?? ;)
In my "Mexican Pack" from last week we got dried chiles. I had NO idea what to do with these things. After a little research I learned that you rehydrate them and can make a chili paste. So, I have big plans for a slow-cooker mexican fiesta using these chiles. Maybe 45 minutes ago I set my mind on this task of rehydrating. I look at two different websites that give me the play by play. Note-- one of them said, "Don't forget to wear your gloves!" Foolishly, I think I am better than these gloves.
I chop, I de-vein, de-seed, roast, and get those bad boys in some water. I wash my hands and scratch my nose. I quickly realize I did not wash my hands good enough, because the left side of my nose is on FIRE! I quickly wash my hands again, then wash my nose, but to no avail. And so I'm sitting here, typing, and holding a bag of ice on my nose. OUCH!
The moral of the story: I NEVER want to get shot with pepper spray.
Bright side: At least I didnt' rub my eyes. :)
Seriously, good thing it was your nose and not your eyes! I'm impressed at all the culinary exploration--you'll have to teach me.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back on here, too. :)
