Only Wanted To See You Dancing in the Purple Rain

Well, Josh totally won this year! For Christmas he got me the 2 Glee soundtracks, the 70th Anniversary 3-disc blu-ray set of GONE WITH THE WIND, and a new ipod! This new ipod is PURPLE (hence I call it Purple Rain), has a video camera, and is 16GB! Holla! Quite a spacial improvement on my current ipod. I am pretty stoked!

Christmas was GREAT! We definitely had a Hatch Christmas and it was fun to hang out with everyone and learn lots of new games. We are crazy about new board/card games up here! Here's what we are currently playing:
  1. Ticket to Ride Europe
  2. BANG! (thanks to Matt Earl!)
  3. Guillotine (thanks to PJames!)
  4. Pictureka
  5. Zeus on the Loose
  6. Loot

Let me tell ya, it's pretty exciting up here in Davis County!

I also got to hang with my girl, PJ, and James and baby Jesse. She is due with her 2nd baby in March! Cuh-razy! But really exciting, and I know she will be great. Too bad we never think of taking cameras to such occasions.

2010 is definitely starting off with a BANG! My job is really about to kick into high gear, Josh goes back to school, and we have a car to fix, or scrap... who knows!

I have plans of eating healthier, with my new Cooking Light subscription! And my current internal debate is: should I do Boot Camp?? 5:30 am?? I really need to kick my but into gear if I ever want to really lose weight and get fit. Self-motivation? It's pretty petite. But with my homegirl's support... I think I could do it! Stay tuned!

Our "Secret Santa" gift was from awesome Rachel and Jason, and it was tickets to the Nutcracker! It was great, but I don't think we'll be seeing Swan Lake anytime soon. Josh was ready for a musical, and he was quite disappointed. =)

Much love! Happy New Year! More joyous news to come!

Tradition, TRADITION!

I love the holidays and love all of the traditions that go with them. As a young married, sometimes I wonder when did our parents & grandparents start their traditions. I want to start our own family traditions, by smooshing some of mine with some of Josh’s, and adding some new things in. But when do we find the time? We’ve got family over here and family over there, and it seems like we are always participating in other people’s traditions. It is great to have family around and people willing to feed you, but sometimes I want to do my own thing. I hope that doesn’t sound bad… =)

I am finding all of these yummy cookie recipes, and I am reading to put on baking shoes! Or maybe my apron. ;) And then, we don’t have a full house, so it’s to justify us keeping all these goodies to ourselves, but then everybody we know is trying to eat healthy (us included!), so I feel like there is a little bit of a predicament going on. Maybe I should find healthy alternative recipes? That’s not a bad idea, but a little indulging is good, too.

This year I know will be a mish-mash of traditions, but maybe that’s what we need to propel us into our own. Josh’s mom is gonna teach me how to bake some of her specialties, and I plan on recreating my Grandma’s Mexican Christmas Eve extravaganza. Which reminds me, I better call and get that enchilada recipe…

There is something magical about traditions. It makes me feel tied to the people and places that I love. As I get older, and the people I love get older, it’s even more important to me to keep these relationships strong,, even just through food, song, movies, and sharing memories. Man, do I sound like a cheese ball! Even though I’m not in California with Christmas by the beach, and Josh isn’t in snow covered Chicago, we can still celebrate family style. A new Hatch style.

In related news… we got a new Christmas tree! We opened ours and there was only one leg, thus the tree would not stand. So we got a bangin’ one that was on sale at Wal-Mart and it is pre-light! MAGICAL! I also got some BOOTS-- I’ve been wanting boots for years, because it’s pretty awful getting the bottom of your pants all soggy and slipping around in Converse. I have joined the ranks of the winter-ly!

My mom introduced me to the Diana Krall radio station on Pandora.com, and now my favorite station is Diana Krall Holiday! It is so nice and fun and jazzy! The PERFECT holiday station! Another good one is Mariah Carey Holiday, but I’m sure you already knew that.

MUCH LOVE! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Baby Baby Baby...Light My Way

So we're in the process of moving... to an unknown location... and I found 2 discs with all of our engagement pictures on it! I had no idea these were in our possession! And so, here is a little gem that didn't make the cut, but makes me smile:

Listen to the U2 song that I used for my post title... you'll be glad you did. =)

I Need No Permission, Did I Mention?

Tonight I had such a great time getting together with my 23rd Floor girls! They truly are some of my best friends. I hadn't seen them since June, and let's face it- 4 months is WAY TOO LONG!

We enjoyed food together (no one appreciates good food like we do) and of course had PUMPKIN SPICE HO CHO-- much thanks to my friends at: We also went to the Wells Fargo Building and mysteriously got to go back up to the 23rd Floor. None of has had been back since our last day. I was so glad that we were all together on our trip back in time. It is sad to see it looking like a ghost town. But it was fun walking through each room, saying, "Remember that time when I dropped the ball lights...twice." And "Remember when we had to put up the ceilings, on the ladder in our heels, answering the phones?" Oh, those were the DAYS!

Even though we're all at different places in our lives, we can always come back together and it's like we've never been apart. I feel completely myself with these girls. I have no shame and I feel comfortable putting my sassy pants on. They even let me have intermissions as I burst out in song.

We all have dreams that are bigger than where we are now and we would love to acheive those dreams together. That's what I love about us. A group of 4 girls, who know that life holds much more in store for them.

How are we going to get there? Wait and see...

Motown Philly...Back Again!

Alright, I just gotta start out by saying- Boyz II Men was AWESOME! It was a rocky road, but we made it!

It was free to see the concert, you just had to go pick up seating tickets. Welp, I'm an idiot. I didn't realize that people had waited in line for 2 hours in the morning to get their tickets at 10am. When we rolled into the fair in the afternoon, I was DEVASTED when I saw the "Boyz II Men Sold Out" sign. Not gonna lie, I teared up, got mad, and was ready to leave the fair. Josh knew how important this was to me, so he said that we could try and find some on KSL and see if people were selling them.

We were looking and looking, and then we saw Spencer King- Comedian Extraordinaire! And he said, "Oh, didn't your dad have some at his 101.5 The Eagle booth the other day?" DUH! I forget that I have major connections when it comes to the concert world.

To top it off, my phone spontaneously died, and would not wake up. I couldn't get the battery out to restart it. I can see why T-Mobile no longer carries the Motorola Rokr. =) I had to rely on Josh's phone to get in touch with my friend Hollz to break the HORRIBLE news and get a hold of my dad.

Well, my dad is my hero! Especially when it comes to Boyz II Men... =) He hooked us up with his radio peeps, and I was so happy/relieved/ecstatic.

While waiting for the big event, we enjoyed fried zucchini, the swirly ice cream, and my fave hawaiian food. We also saw this hilarious hypnotist, and now I get why people love that stuff. He was great... but probably too expensive for my Davis County Fair. =)

And then, it came... 14th row... dreams coming true... jams... magic.

I have to say, I was super sad that Hollz was not there, Boyz II Men is something that we really shared and loved together. I ALWAYS think of her whenever I hear one of their songs, and especially when I hear "Water Runs Dry." We totally sang it at an assembly in elementary school! And so I vow that before we die we will go to a Boyz II Men concert together, as god is my witness! And a Britney concert... and a Prince concert. =D

Well, my Boyz came out in true form. They hit it up with "MotownPhilly," they sang some slow jams, and then they suprised me with some MOTOWN HITS! I guess they have a Motown-Hitsville album. Well it was awesome, and it really kept the party going. They even did those slick dance moves like the Temptations. It was FABULOUS!

During "I'll Make Love To You" they threw red roses to the audience, and yes I ran up to the front for my chance. But let's be honest, I'm too short for that stuff, and they don't throw very far. Haha!

They even sang one of my fave songs (which I didn't think they would) "Doin Just Fine." Oh it was soooooooo good. After a few more, they left. But we didn't! We kept clapping and screaming, and then Wanya came back on and gave us some love and a little acapella "Yesterday" and then they all came back on and did the FULL song of "MotownPhilly." It was AMAZING! I loved every minute of it! I've never clapped so much at a concert in my life. I had a HUGE smile on my face as we left the grandstands.

They were so grateful and kind and fun and they still sound awesome together. Next year is their 20th anniversary, and they are going to try and get Michael back with them to do another album. HOLLA! I'm all for it!

What a fun day at the fair with Josh. We even had a fried snickers. Dreams reall do come true... ;)

The Classics

I just enjoyed one of my favorite meals: A tuna melt and butternut squash soup! My love for tuna melts goes waaaay back (holla at my favorite cousing Emily) and my love affair with butternut squash soup started just last year. Pretty much I love anything that has to do with my friends in the squash family, including, but not limited to fried zuccinni (so far Cheesecake Factory has the best), sweet potato fries, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, & PUMPKIN SPICE HO CHO! Yes, the fall season is upon us and I can't wait! Here is a photo depicting my love for sqaush & twinkly lights:

Another classic in my life: ONE TREE HILL! I know I've already expressed my deep love for this show, but just so you know, the love really runs deep. And I absolutely cannot wait for the season premiere this coming Monday! I LOVE Brooke, but I know that I am going to miss my homies Peyton and Lucas. Oh, Chad Michael Murray.
The 2009 Davis County Fair was, well, CLASSIC! =) After all of the buildup and preparations, the fair was GREAT! And thanks to all my wonderful friends and famiy who came and supported me! I REALLY appreciated it-- even though I looked like a chicken running around with their head cut off. This year was the most successful fair ever, and they want me to be a bigger part of next year's fair. We're already planning some stuff, and all I can say is SHARKS and hopefully hawaiian shirts. =) Here's a little smattering of the fair magic:

<--Holla and Posh: lookin fierce.

Still can't believe I let this happen to me.
I understand why Britney Spears looked a little awkward during the one VMA performance, oh so long ago. ;)

One main source of stress: Davis County's Got Talent! But it went really well and my Dad was a great host. We're doing it again next year!

Another Megan project-- the gameshow! It was called The Big Deal: Take It or Leave It and the crowd really got into it! And don't my briefcases and game board look so great?! I'm pretty proud of this one!

These looks of love are brought to you by Flan & Me. Always a good time with my Flanny Clan!

These are the guys I work with! They are quite entertaining.

And this is my FAVORITE picture from the fair! Thanks to Josh for being a good sport. =)

It's crazy to think that the fair was just a month ago. I'm so glad it went well and I'm glad they like me! This job has been great, and hopefully it will continue to get better so I can actually keep it. =)

We went on a fun VEGAS trip over the weekend! I do enjoy that place and it really does feel like you just let loose when you go down there. I'm okay with that. If you need a kickstart to your night there, just go on the roller coaster at New York New York. I was looney and tons of fun after we went on that.
Overall, it was a magical trip.
We even saw this lady there! The ultimate classic. On that note: HOLLA!

What's New Pussycat?

It's been a long time since I've blogged it up, so there are a few thing that I have to write about!

First, my good friend Michael Jackson. I couldn't believe it when I heard then news, and then I got text from lots of my friends about it. It's nice that my friends remembered my fanhood for Michael! So, now I have to share:

My Top 5 Michael Jackson Songs (in no particular order)

1. In The Closet- Dangerous

2. Smooth Criminal- Bad

3. Off The Wall- Off The Wall

4. Remember the Time- Bad

5. PYT- Thriller

Let me tell you, that was a hard list to narrow down, but I did my best. =)

A few weeks ago, Josh and I drove down to Redlands to surprise my mom for her birthday! It was the BEST SURPRISE EVER!!! We pulled it off and it was so fun to spend time with my mom. I can't even remember the last time I was with her on her birthday. It was magical! Next year she turns 50 and I turn 25, so we gotta think of something truly awesome to celebrate!

Our garden is overflowing with love for us and now our fridge is overflowing with tomatoes. We made some BANGIN' salsa and now I'm going to embark on some more culinary adventures: stuffed tomatoes, stuffed green peppers, feta & tomato salad, & a PJ Strong/Eager special-- Rosa's Chicken and Rice!

We've done some WAY fun stuff with Ashlee & Craig- went to The Fray concert! It was really good-- definitely a fun night! And last week we had a hot dog/s'more cookout. It was like we were camping without all the work. I even sang camp songs to them. =)

The Davis County Fair is next week! It's going to be a lot of work, but I think it will be a lot of fun! Here's a pic of what I've been up to:
Yeah, I painted that. And yeah, that alligator is going to eat me.

I've been really enjoying The Eagles lately, so why don't you do yourself a favor and listen to "Desperado" or "New Kid In Town."

Looks Like We Made It After All...

Tomorrow is our 1 year anniversary! And we are celebrating by celebrating Father's Day. =) It's crazy to think about all of the craziness that was going on this time 1 year ago. And now we have a different sort of craziness going on...which is less expensive and less time consuming. I like that!

We're getting ready to go to Wiseguys to see my papa perform! I'm excited cuz I haven't seen him perform in a long time. To all of you filled with jealousy- have no fear! He will be performing at the club in Trolley Square in July!

So recently I have been watching the old seasons of my fave show, One Tree Hill, and as always, listening to awesome music. I was thinking about the good feeling these things give me, and it just feels like they are my old friends. Which is why I often say, "My friend Janet" or why I cry while watching my friends and all their troubles in Tree Hill. It sounds good to me! Sometimes just the right song can cheer you up or explain exactly how you are feeling. It's a beautiful thing. And it's been interesting watching One Tree Hill now that I'm married. One of the couples gets married really young and it's interesting to watch their struggles and it just hits me to the core.

And I also love my real friends! =)

Three Coins In The Fountain

First, I'd like to thank my dad for igniting my love of Frank Sinatra. Ol' Blue Eyes can brighten any moment.

Sometimes I wish I was still unemployed, because my goal while I was unemployed was to do a little soul searching. Well, I didn't really get too far on that! It's so weird because I'm graduated from college, I've had a grown-up job, I'm married, and I still feel like I'm growing up and learning about myself. But, I am only 23...so that's okay, right?

It's interesting how one can accomplish the aforementioned things, but still feel like a little girl in the big world. I wonder, how could I commit myself completely to one man, when I'm still trying to figure out who I am? Love is good and love is complex. I am grateful that I can love and grow simultaneously. =)

I have some major life experiences ahead of me. I've been so worried about what my reaction will be, that I'm kind of freezing up. My dear Josh gave me some smart advice, and from that, this is what I have learned:

LIVE YOUR LIFE!
If you're going to learn anything, you have to live. You have to give yourself the chance to be yourself. Experience is the proving ground... so I'm just going to let myself EXPERIENCE and FEEL. And see what happens!
Here's a fabulous piece of advice that I've carried with me: In high school, my friend and I went to see a play that our friends were in-- "The Laramie Project." I don't know if you know the story of Matthew Shepard, but that is what this play is all about. It was an amazing show; my friends weren't my friends, they were the characters. Both my friend and I were pretty emotional after it, but a lot of the people around us were not so much. We felt kind of weird, and I think we even cried about the play again in the car when her mom was driving us home. She turned around and she said to us, "Don't ever be embarrased to show that something touched you." And I was like, "YEAH!" And I've tried to live that ever since.
So, there's my to do list. =)
Song Recommendation:
"The Only Promise That Remains" Reba McEntire feat. Justin Timberlake
P.S. The highlight of the Taylor Swift concert was her song "You're Not Sorry" which she smooshed wth JT's "What Goes Around." It was bangin'!

Blogging It Up

So, I guess this is like a second beginning to this blog o' mine. Or maybe the real beginning!
Life is good!

I have a new job! But this evening, I found myself missing The 23rd Floor. That was a great job and my girls were the best. We had a great time. The Davis County Fair is fab in it's own way, but I don't know if I'll ever have a job like The 23rd Floor again. But it's fine organizing entertainment and trying to find new stuff to put into the fair. And so far they like me and they think I'm doing a good job!

Josh is keepin' it real at POUNDCAKE'S! GO THERE! The food is great!!!

I just read The Lovely Bones and I highly recommend it! I couldn't put it down. Recently I've also read Revolutionary Road, The Secret Life of Bees, and The Reader. Do you know notice a theme here? All of these have been made into movies, and even the Lovely Bones is going to come out in theaters in December. Do I know how to pick 'em or what?

On that note Star Trek was GREAT! But I am sad that I forgot to wear my Star Trek shirt. Maybe I'll just wear it tomorrow for kicks. The movie is over 2 hours, but it just flew by, and I never found myself thinking "When is this gonna end?" That, my friends, is the sign of a great movie.
Now, I must indulge in my guilty pleasure: 90210.

"Loving you is easy cuz your beautiful..."

Drumroll...

Here it is! The beginning!
